PCI Health Training Center currently offers four comprehensive Allied medical certificate programs and health care training clases

Anatomy of veins and arteries

MEDICAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM

The Medical Assistant Program prepares a graduate to work as an entry-level Medical Assistant. Within this general career category are a number of specialty areas, including Administrative Office Assistant, Clinic Assistant, Medical Office Manager, Phlebotomist, Physical Therapy Technician in a Doctor's office, clinic or hospital. On completion of the Medical Assistant Program you will be able to check vital signs, assist in physical examinations, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and perform basic medical laboratory tests. Students will receive hands-on laboratory training from the very first week of training.

During the classroom portion of training you will be introduced to a variety of subjects ranging from computers and front office skills, to anatomy, physiology and the various systems of the human body.

Student Externships  Externships are typically completed at Doctor's offices, Clinics, Hospitals, Laboratories, Physical Therapy Sites, Pharmacies, Optometry facilities, Dialysis Centers, etc. The externship provides the student with real world experience applying the skills learned at PCI.


PSYCHIATRIC ASSISTANT PROGRAM

The Psychiatric Assistant Program prepares a graduate to work as an entry-level Mental Health Technician, Psychiatric Assistant, or Psychiatric Attendant in a mental health care facility. PCI Health Training Center graduates are employed in mental health hospitals, drug & alcohol rehabilitation centers, half-way houses, schools for the mentally retarded, social rehabilitation centers and private counseling centers. The Graduate is able to assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of the mentally ill, retarded and substance-abuse patients. Students are also prepared in Clinical Facility Management and Basic Clinical Procedures.

The classroom training includes training in a wide range of subjects from developmental psychology and psychiatric disorders and therapies to substance abuse, clinical assessment & documentation, and medications & treatment. Psychiatric Assistant students also receive training in CPR, Emergency First Aid, vital signs & basic nursing skills, and aggressive patient management.

Student Externships Externships are typically completed at psychiatric, mental health and counseling centers. The externship provides the student with real world experience applying the skills learned at PCI.


MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT PROGRAM

The Medical Office Assistant Program prepares a graduate to work as an entry-level Medical Front Office Assistant, medical office receptionist, insurance biller / collector, appointment scheduler, or medical office records clerk in healthcare centers, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and medical billing offices.

Students will concentrate on medical terminology, medical ethics and OSHA regulations, computer skills / training, medical records management, patient charting, billing practices and insurance filing procedures and learn a variety of medical and dental office administration procedures.

Student Externships  Externships are typically completed at Doctor's offices, Clinics, Hospitals, Laboratories, Physical Therapy Sites, Pharmacies, Optometry facilities, Dialysis Centers, etc. The externship provides the student with real world experience applying the skills learned at PCI.

PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN

This course prepares a graduate to work as an entry-level Patient Care Technician in a clinic, hospital, or long-term care facility. Graduates will be able to check vital signs, assist in medical examinations, perform electrocardiograms, basic laboratory procedures, and phlebotomy. This program is taught with a combination of lecture, practical exercises in the medical laboratory, and with real-world experience during the externship portion of training conducted off-campus at medical facilities.
