Adopt-A-Reindeer Project at Phoenix House

For the second year in what is sure to be an ongoing PCI Health Training Center tradition, PCI Staff Members adopted teenagers of the Phoenix House as recipients of Christmas gifts.

Phoenix House is a haven for teens who struggle with addiction. The home provides a nurturing, healing environment where young people can learn, grow and move onward. In all, 25 “reindeer” were adopted and proving that this is what Christmas is all about, tears of joy filled the eyes of PCI Staff and reindeer alike.

Phoenix House is the nation's largest non-profit organization devoted to the treatment and prevention of substance abuse, treating nearly 5,500 adults and adolescents each day at more than 100 programs in nine states.

In recognition of the 688 units of blood collected at PCI during 2004, the American Red Cross has selected Buck Heard, fom Student Services as the recipient of the Southwest Region Donor Coordinator Award.

“I am very honored,” Buck says. “I share this honor with the Students of PCI and my colleagues and friends in the community.  We all work so hard to save lives. What is more important than that?”

the 2005 blood drives and donations will be even bigger as PCI continues the Schools efforts to keep blood supplies well stocked in Dallas-Fort Worth Texas.
