Nearly 150 students, instructors and administrators volunteered for the annual Toys for Tots Drive in Allen, Texas.
PCI Health at Richardson was asked to coordinate a drive and round up donations for the event. The goal was to collect new toys during the holiday season and donate them to less fortunate children in the DFW Community. The Richardson campus collected nearly 200 toys over the last few weeks and distributed them at the drive.
The event, which took place on December 7th at Allen Convention Center, was a joint project of U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, PCI Health Training Center and various business, organizations and local communities.
Carrie Rustad, from PCI’s Career Services Department volunteered as Mrs. Claus, while sitting in her little wooden rocking chair, handed out cookies to hardworking, but freezing volunteers as they unloaded a truck full of toys. Later she made time to spread some holiday cheer, but not before she paused for a few photo opts!
“Toys for Tots” is the epitome of hope, compassion and selflessness. PCI’s staff and students are honored to support the US Marine Corp, in giving back to a DFW community that we have educated and partnered with for 20 plus years. As a career institution, we aspire to embody those core values and the commitment, “Toys for Tots” so proudly represents each and every day.
